Lug-to-lug

Lug-to-lug is the distance across a watch, measured between the far outer ends of its lugs. It is given in millimetres. It is a separate figure from lug width, and watch enthusiasts often argue about it.

How is lug-to-lug measured?

The measurement runs from the lug tips at the top of the case to the lug tips at the bottom. It is taken at the far outer ends of the lugs, not at the point where they join the case. That means it covers the full span of the case and its lugs together, from one end to the other. The figure is given in millimetres. You may also see it called the lug-to-lug measurement or the outer lug size.

Not to be confused with

Lug width is a different measurement. It is the gap between the lugs, taken between the two lugs on the same side of the case. Lug-to-lug runs from the top of the case to the bottom, across the outer ends of the lugs. Lug width measures only the space inside one pair of lugs. The two figures describe different things, so one cannot stand in for the other. When a watch lists both, it helps to check which is which.

Why does lug-to-lug vary at NOMOS?

At NOMOS, every model has its own case. The lugs are designed as part of the watch’s whole look. Because of this, the lug-to-lug figure changes from model to model. The number for one NOMOS watch does not carry over to another. Outer lug size is a frequent subject of debate among watch enthusiasts, and NOMOS watches are part of that discussion too.
