Moonshine Gold is an exclusive 18-karat yellow gold alloy that Omega created in 2019. It is a little paler than ordinary 18K yellow gold. Omega says it also holds its colour and shine well over time.
What is Moonshine Gold made of?
Like any 18-karat gold, it is gold mixed with other metals. Omega adds silver, copper and palladium. The balance differs from standard yellow gold. Moonshine Gold uses less copper and brings in silver and palladium as well. That change makes the metal a little paler than standard yellow gold. Omega says this mix of added metals gives the alloy its colour and its stability. That is why the brand says its colour and shine hold up well over time.
Where it comes from
Omega created the alloy in 2019. The alloy is exclusive to Omega. The brand says its look was inspired by moonlight shining in a dark blue night sky. In 2022 Omega released two Speedmaster Moonwatch models made in Moonshine Gold. One has a deep green dial. The other has a panda dial in black and gold.
How does it compare with Omega’s other golds?
Moonshine Gold is one of several gold alloys in Omega’s range, each with its own shade. Omega’s Bronze Gold has a colour that falls between Sedna Gold and Moonshine Gold. Put side by side, they form a scale of tones. Moonshine Gold is the one to look at for a yellow a little paler than ordinary 18K gold.
