Louis Erard and independent watchmaker Vianney Halter have released the Futur Antérieur, their third project together. Its name borrows a French grammatical tense, and its case takes cues from Halter’s 1998 Antiqua, whose design language also informed their 2024 Le Régulateur II.
The case is a three-dimensional, asymmetrical build in stainless steel, 38 mm wide and 8.85 mm thick, and water-resistant to 50 m. It has a central cylinder and two raised porthole-style bezels, one at four o’clock and one at ten o’clock. Articulating lugs and contrasting rivets run around the edge, and the whole case is assembled from 67 components. Brushed surfaces sit against polished bevels, and each bezel is held by twelve polished yellow-gilt rivets. Each dial has its own crown, also decorated with six of those rivets.
The watch is a dual display with two separate dials. The four o’clock sub-dial shows hours and minutes, while the ten o’clock one shows seconds. Each is driven by its own automatic Sellita SW100 movement, 17.2 mm across and 4.8 mm thick, with 25 jewels, a 4 Hz beat and hacking seconds. The power reserve is 42 hours. Halter’s signature blued steel hands appear on both versions.
The gold version has yellow-gilt layered dials with grained baseplates, circular-brushed outer rings, polished chamfers and black transfers, paired with a black ostrich strap (ref. 22243AA01.BOA02). The silver version uses rhodium-plated dials with the same finishes and a blue ostrich strap (ref. 22243AA07.BOA05).
Each colour is limited to 178 pieces, with a further 78 sets pairing both. The price is CHF 4,950 per watch or CHF 9,900 per set, excluding tax.
