Panerai has added a new size to its Submersible dive watch line: 44mm. It sits between the existing 42mm and 47mm formats, and arrives in three references: the Carbotech PAM01232, the white-dial steel PAM01595 and the black-dial steel PAM01596.
All three are water resistant to 300 meters. They share the crown-protecting bridge at 3 o’clock, a unidirectional rotating bezel with a graduated diving scale, applied hour markers, hands filled with white Super-LumiNova and a sapphire crystal. The date window sits beside the bridge at 3 o’clock.
The PAM01232 has a case and bezel in Carbotech, a layered material that gives every case an irregular, striated surface, so each looks slightly different. The case back and buckle are titanium with a black DLC coating. The dial is a deep blue, matched by a dark-blue rubber strap.
The PAM01596 has a brushed steel case and bezel and a black dial with white luminous markers, hands and dots. It comes on a black rubber strap with a dark-gray fabric strap as an extra. The PAM01595 has a white dial with oversized luminous markers and black hands, on a military-green rubber strap, plus a second strap made from recycled fabric. Both steel models include tools for changing straps and removing the buckle.
Inside each is the automatic P.900 caliber, 28.2mm across and 4.2mm thick, with 171 components and 23 jewels, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz). A single barrel gives three days of power reserve, and the movement drives hours, minutes and a small seconds at 9 o’clock, plus the date.
